My Gallium OS Chromebook went tits up a little while ago. No choice but to wipe it clean and install a fresh copy of the OS.
Good thing I run a backup every night - I didn't lose any day. The only think that didn't save correctly (and I don't know why) was my bookmarks file. I'm going to have to rebuild those from an earlier backup.

There are no icons on my desktop. Not a single one. Not a folder, not a shortcut... nothing.

Nice. I don't really like the trash bin, I just never looked at how to get rid of it. Not a simple right click like you'd think.

Gallium OS starts out with a clean slate. You'd have to add the trash bin to the desktop if you want it.
My work laptop only has the trash bin and that's because IT won't let me hide it.
