It's been nearly a month, but now after my daily allotment of half a sixpack on the boat here, I really want another coffin nail.

Whelp. Heading home now... the missus will probably discourage me sufficiently from falling off this particular wagon.

But maybe not... I do have my emergency pack in my nightstand. Pls don't tell her.

Dont do it nigger. You have to quit so i have the motivation to quit

God damn it.

I really want to, too. But you know how it can be.

I am resisting, for you. Viva la resistance!

Cold turkey?

[–] 4 pts

Totally. Just like almost every year.

I went several years one time. I might live forever if I keep obstaining like this!

Cold showers help build discipline. Proper sleep cycles.
Appetite control (only eating at certain times).
Pushups every day.

All would be extremely beneficial.

In the nightstand... She knows.

She left them alone though, unlike my hip flask. She emptied that. Damned lush.

My longest without was a year. I missed it in the winter, it's something to do for the few minutes waiting for the car to warm up (let your car run for at least 2 - 5 minutes when it's under 32f to allow the oil to properly distribute throughout the engine). I started again for no particular reason. Only maybe 5 a day.

Stay quit. It's a good choice. Like anyone really cares what a stranger has to say about their habits.

The pack made it to my pocket, but I never had any. I'm putting it back now. Dodged that particular bullet this time!

and we're all close pals here, pal! Poal pals!

Weird. You've been annoying for far longer than just a few weeks.

[–] 1 pt

Holy fuck, that is by far the nicest thing you've ever said to me!

Kek
That's probably true, too

Are there nicotine gummies? Eat some with some goober peas. Life is good.

Ah, yes. Lung-rotters, with which to rot the lungs.

Funny how everything that makes life worth putting up with also happens to shorten it. That's probably the point of the lesson. Anyway, I love smoking; do it every day and won't ever stop. Health? You don't need any. Fact of the matter is that we all live until we die, and have no means or ability to do anything about it.

If the goal was just to exist for a long time, then get reincarnated as a redwood tree. And I can already hear the people moaning, "you don't get to pick what you incarnate as - because of karma and shit". And yeah, maybe for dullards, but I'm going to be buried with my money, so when I get to the afterlife, I'm bribing the officials.

They're gonna send me right back here in the form of a dung-beetle. That's living life with the filters off. Nothing but you, and the raw truth that existence is a process of pushing shit from one place to another, and then doing it all over again.

There's some truth right here

Sounds wise.

I should consider converting to your religion.

The pain will pass.

I knew I would be relieved not to havelit up later, and it was true The cravings grow weaker and less frequent with the passage of time; I just need to drink less.

Be praying for you homie

[–] 1 pt

Well gosh, thanks!

It's been yet another day without a smoke! No drinking today, either. That kind of helps.

Good for you! Keep it up.

The longer you abstain, the easier it gets. Though, it doesn't stop the cravings from randomly rearing its ugly head.

You got this

Stay strong, I'm almost a month in myself... After nearly 30 years of smoking and at least 15 years of trying to quit I can tell you that "one last smoke" or "just giving in once because (???? reason... stress / drinking / with peers who smoke / etc...)" is all it takes to get back to a pack a day habit.

[–] 1 pt

I started early, but then quit for many years. Then got with a chick who smoked so said WTF if I got to taste it might as well. She is gone but Im still goin strong. Everyone I know who quit died of cancer.

[–] 1 pt

Shit. I have been worrying that it might be the quitting that kills 'em!

[–] 1 pt

It's really hard to quit. Until you have a heart attack and have to rushed to the hospital at the tender old age of 30 for open heart surgery. And the surgeon tells you, "if you smoke, you will die".

Then it's really, really easy.

Well since I haven't been thirty for a couple decades, I should be okay then!
