I understand human nature enough that there is no such thing as a unified human utopia. I do not want any part of a higher beings vision of utopia that is created on the foundation of the near infinite levels of human suffering it will take. I want an acknowledgment from my fellow man that we are animals that can better ourselves and should strive to better the species within the limitations of our surroundings. Fuck a higher power that craves veneration while pedophiles and rapists walk the earth.
You have a valid point. I still choose to believe but to me that just seems like the best option I have. I do still acknowledge that the humanity is and can be seriously fucked up. I don't think there is such thing as a single unified utopia but individual utopias could probably happen. There was a book I read once it was just a fiction thing but it was basically about a guy that died and went to heaven and his adventures there I can't remember it off the top of my head but I'll find it.
