So I was at my mechanics shop attempting to wrench on the wife’s car(I say attempting because that inner tie rod isn’t fucking moving so new rack it is) and they asked me if I could help around the shop and they would pay me. I said fuck it why not so I guess I’m a mechanic now.

Great ... congrats! Now we can call ya an official grease monkey!

[–] 4 pts

I guess so, never would have even applied for this type of work.

[–] 5 pts

Hey, it'll keep ya off the streets and busy until you do find what ya want. In the meantime, a few bruised knuckles never hurt anyone.

[–] 2 pts

I don't know maybe I'll find it is a job i like enough to keep it. If not I bet I'll learn a hell of a lot, and get some good experience. Also air tools are bad ass.

What an uncanny coincidence! 😲

I actually sent him a grease monkey script yesterday! 😂

[–] 1 pt

LOL - coincidence ... really! You must be psychic.

Good on you! A real renascence boobs

How much different can fixing cars be from fixing computers? I'm pretty happy about it the mechanic is a super knowledgeable guy best mechanic I have ever met, so I'm sure if nothing else I'll learn a ton.

Well at least it pays the Bill's eh?Congratulations man. GreaseUpboobs2

[–] 4 pts

Yeah it'll pay the bills and it'll be nice to get out from behind the desk for a while at least. It'll help me get back in shape too.

[–] 5 pts

Wow such luck.

[–] 3 pts

This is very uncharacteristic of my luck.

[–] 5 pts

Congrats. Don't waste that opportunity until you have a better one.

[–] 5 pts

not a chance, I don't mind working on cars and its a good chance to get into better shape.

Nice when lifestyle curveballs get thrown. Whether good or bad they sure change the pace.

[–] 4 pts

I do enjoy a change of pace from time to time.

[–] 3 pts

So great. Getting some take-home pay and a "mission" (fix shit) that helps men's mental health

[–] 3 pts

I really think I’ll enjoy that aspect of it, Give me a task and I can just go do it. You get that every once in a whlie in my actual industry but it’s rare. Car repair almost every thing is a clear defined task.

Besides the regular maintenance, isn’t it harder to fix cars with all these sensors and compact engines?

[–] 1 pt

I don't know its usually not too bad, I like the compact engines usually they are lighter so if you have to pull the motor its not so much of a pain. The sensors well I'm not old enough to have ever known much different. The having 4 buses on one car is a pain in the ass but what are you going to do.

[–] 3 pts

Congats, man. Looks like all of that simulator time is paying off. Best $.69 you ever spent

[–] 3 pts

Hell yeah it is. Although I think they should say some where that the real thing is never that clean.

[–] 1 pt

Mike Rowe would approve

[–] 0 pt

he probably would but wrenching on cars isn't all that dirty of a job. You get dirty but it can be fun its just doing puzzles at the end of the day.

[–] 0 pt

This reminds me I need to replace my car’s shock absorbers. 😉

Congrats on your new job! 🙂

[–] 1 pt

Thank you! Really I walked in to this one on complete accident. If you can afford it quick struts so much easier that way.

It’s pretty much the same shit as the one wire bus and the SMC on Apple’s shitty Macs.

[–] 1 pt

except its usually 2 wires that shut off one bus if the resistance changes, and they run those fuckers underneath the car with the brake lines a lot.

[–] 0 pt

Yes, they don’t use the chassis as a ground for sensors because the shitty scrap metal they nowadays use to build cars creates a resistance that could mess with the precision of the sensors.

[–] 1 pt

true, it always has to be 60ohms if my memory serves.
