Are the books really that good?
Depending on your taste. Yes.
Basically, it's a story of a group of country folk, with country folk values whose mind set and way of thinking saves the world.
It's the opposite of everything you see on TV and in movies.
It also parallels a lot of other mythology and fantasy series.
The books are long and there are 14 of them, so, when people do find it to their liking, it becomes the most immersive work they've ever read.
Fantasy just isn't for everyone, though, so it's always hard for me to recommend.
Personally, I read the first one when it came out. I, then, read every subsequent one when they came out.
In anticipation of the series, I read the whole thing again.
There are a few comic sites and torrent sites that have the graphic novels.
I'd recommend seeing if you like those, first.
The world is huge, so you should start at the "Eye of the World" graphic novel, first. "New Spring" is a prequel, but it has so much stuff that doesn't make sense until you get to know the world a little bit.
But those are just two books in the series. I do not believe they intend to finish, as the death of the author made had too great an impact on the process.
But, they are fast and easy to read and the art is top notch. If you like them, then try the books.
Thanks man. I loved the David eddings series 'the belgariad' and 'malorean' series. 10 books in total. Love those stories. I'm interested in the graphic novels you mentioned. Any chance you have a link to those?
I liked David Eddings.

Raymond Feist was always one of my favorites, when I was younger, though I fell off awhile back. He is still cranking them out.
I rarely have time to read fiction, anymore, and I find most of it to be heavily biased against my own personal values, these days, to the extent that much of it feels like an attack.
Yes. Yes they are. Given there's 14 of them, they are all insanely long, and there is of course fluff in there - they are incredible. The world building is amazing, the characters each get their own arcs in the story. It's great.
