The awards shows aren't just for the US audience. Every non-English speaking country I've ever lived in eats this shit up.
They don't understand the woke shit, but they know that one of their countrymen is up for best non-gay makeup artist in a made-for-tv drama or some such shit and totally might meet Brad Pitt guise!
My country has had several shows analyzing the Grammys, the Academy Awards, etc. My co-workers don't understand why I'm not interested in any of it.

Reminds me of watching British movies , back in the 1980's movies like Withnail & I didn't give a crap about American culture and celebrated their own. Fast forward to movies like Hot Fuzz and they are acting like Americans complete with Chunky Monkey ice cream.
