Remember when the Hoover Vacuum Company was right on Cleveland Avenue in North Canton?

[–] 2 pts

Didn't know that. I never spent much time Canton. Did they tear it down?

It closed in 2007 when it's new owner moved remaining manufacturing to Mexico.

Little bits and pieces were reused, but the last I heard was around 2022, parts were going to be considered for condos and sheeeit.

i always think of j edgar hoover and not herbert or the vacuum company. everytime i see someone from the uk referencing that, i always see j edgar hoover cross dressing while gobbling down massive dicks in a bowl.

Basically the same way people in the US say fridge instead of refrigerator. It's because for many years Frigidaire was the predominant brand of refrigerator. As is commonly the case linguistic efficiency kicked in and shortened it to fridge which is more concise and easier to say.

Hoovering is not any easier to say than vacuuming though.

That's because they are using it as a verb. Hoovering is the action of using a Hoover.
