I'm staying in a Motel 6 for a vacation and it's being run into the ground and I was checked in by an Indian. I'm leaving in the morning but have a little time to goof off on the crappy wifi. I decided to see if this Motel 6 is owned by an Indian since it feels like it with the way the "maintenance" is non-existent. Motel 6 was bought by OYO an Indian run company...sigh.

Indian Americans own approximately 60% of hotels in the U.S., representing over 34,000 properties. Apparently, most of them are Patels.

When I was a kid (1980s) my parents owned a 14 room motel and my mom said they made money. Not great money, but were more than breaking even. They ended up having to sell it because my dad did something stupid (as usual) and had to run from loan sharks. She said the only people interested in buying were Indians, so Indians bought it. We had motel friends on the other side of town who ended up selling theirs a few years later - also to Indians. This was in rural North Carolina. My parents had never even seen an Indian before.

I wish there was a way to know who is running a motel/hotel before renting a room.

They are now buying entire chains. It's nuts. I picked Super 8 for next year but it looks Indian owned as well. I don't think any of the hotels aren't in Roswell. Freaking sucks. I don't want to give them any money.
