It’s called Tinto de Verano in the south of Spain where I lived for a little bit.

Basically red wine, sprite, bit of lemon juice.

Tinto de Verano means “red summer (wine)” and it’s one of my favorite cocktail (light and refreshing)

We had tinto de verano so many times out there. It’s fantastic.

It’s kind of confusing since Spanish (Andalusia) have been invaded by Ottoman (reeeee) for around a 800 years.

Not Northern Spain, or "Kingdom of Leon" as it was called at the time, where this custom is from. From what I know they were always actively resisting Ottoman invaders.
