Gave that commie the whole nine yards.

Fuck I hate commies. What kind of shithead thinks they can just steal your labor?

This phrase is much older than WW2. It is originally thought to come from a seamstress using an entire bolt of cloth, which also commonly were 9 yards longs in the past.

There are instances of this phrase in print predating 1900.

A full kilt is 9 yards long, I heard that's where the expression comes from.

Either way cool post

A Scottish Kilt?

Huh.. I always thought that the expression came from that Bruce Willis movie that came out in 2000.

I bet that fucker jams like hell while firing. I wonder how they would un jam it mid-flight.

[–] 1 pt

Nah, just perform an inverse half roll with a violent quarter corkscrew, unjams every time ....

Yeah I always wondered as well. The planes had upwards of 6 machineguns iirc so if one jams I guess you just go with it.

Some had electric charging mechanisms so you could clear a bad round.

I guess it would depend on who's feeding the ammo in. Get distracted for one second and suddenly there's a pretzel knot of ammo that you have to unfuck

I don't think this is accurate

Huh, I always thought it was a sportsball thing

Did not know that!

Fuck, I never thought of where it came from.
