That’s how my husband grew up. Wonderful experience for him; he learned in a safe, drama-free environment. But it also means he’s got a huge blind spot where other groups of people are concerned. It wasn’t until I started telling him my stories about getting attacked in the locker room by the Mexicans for being white, or what ESL did to our public school programs, that he ever thought about questioning his assumptions.

If I had a choice for our children, I prefer what he had. But at the same time, with increased safety comes lessened awareness of danger.

Holy shit, what an excellent answer. You clearly understand survival and survial response.

This is the most important training for your children and your family.

Very impressive.
