Messianic Jews are Jews who accept Christ as messiah. They are not Jews, if what they claim is true. They are confused. Perhaps it's just a way to emphasize what they consider the import of their ethnic Jewish component, but again, if they have faith in the Christ, then this is still anathema to their own claims. There are no practicing Jews who do disregard the Talmud. Rabbinic Judaism *is* Judaism. The mistaken idea many people in the West have, if they even know about the Talmud, is that Israeli Jews simply study Torah.
