I think things are different now. The level of brainwashing and manipulation is so much greater, and there's the "Nazis are evil" brainwashing that wasn't being fed to the Weimar population. Also, the influx of diversity is at greater levels, and this tends to weaken populations by not only lowering numbers but ending up with people having sympathy for the invaders. I have an invader friend, so therefore, we must accept the invasion.
