Adolf Hitler was an admirer of Wagner's music and saw in his operas an embodiment of his own vision of the German nation; in a 1922 speech he claimed that Wagner's works glorified "the heroic Teutonic nature ... Greatness lies in the heroic."
Have you watched "The Triumph of Will?" The music is amazing
Of course I have! And yes, the music is quite good.
I'm a big fan of Wagner though, not because of A.H., but because Wagner's music is transcendent and epic. The fact that Hitler was so inspired by Wagner is a testament to the fact that Hitler could truly appreciate great, refined things. He recognized the power of Wagner's musical representation of Germanic lore and philosophy was unparalleled in world history.
