I was thinking the same thing. He looked and sounded like a beaten animal just waiting for everything to end already. She lost her shit before he could try to reason with her, I imagine that this has been common for a very long time and he regrets much.
How insufferable of her, she even was trying to use his loss as a 'excuse' to behave like a POS human. Even at that age, divorce would not be out of the question.

For a man, divorce at that age would certainly be an option…i suspect he’s too demoralized to know what to do without her, though.
