It will be a while before I have the MC-909 in my hands, but I wanted to see if any others have experience with the 909 or its smaller siblings. It was kind of an impulse buy as I shopped around MC series groove boxes after seeing the MC-303 repair video below. I like the interface of the 909 in that I am already somewhat familiar with it from other Roland hardware, but I've not dealt with a beast like this one before so any advice or experiences would help.

I have experience with a lot of Roland gear and my roommate in college had a 303. He always wished it had a sampler, which the 909 has so good for you! Sorry I can’t be of more help, but the only thing I would recommend is to max out the sample RAM ASAP.

My search began with the 303, then led to the 505, 707 and finally the 909. I managed to score the 909 for less than what the 303s were going for which made it extra awesome. It will need a little restorative work, but I enjoy doing that and most of my gear was purchased as rescues. I've already watched a lot of 909 videos and read the manual and I agree with you on maxing out the sample RAM. I will have to dig through my old memory modules to see if I have what I need to take it to the full 128 MB, if not it's off to eBay to score some vintage RAM. I already have some samplers (EMU ESI-4000 and Roland MS-1), but this will nice to have all in one box. I'll have to start searching for an SRX module to upgrade the synth engine, but I think I will have plenty to play with as it is. I can't wait to start playing around with it. It will be a great addition to my collection.

This sounds like fun good luck! I would add there are plenty of rescue MPCs out there. If you’re into groove boxes you’d love a 1000 and they’re easy to work on. Also, you just made me miss my emax. Never shoulda sold it. :-(

Now I'm sad too. That must be heartbreaking.

No. I'm still waiting for Behringer's 909. I almost thought about getting Roland's TR-8s. I may get it down the road. I also looked into Elektron's Analog. More pricey, but it's Elektron.

I'm more a vintage gear kind of guy, but the Behringer remakes are certainly appealing. I like the challenge of keeping an old bit of kit working and thumbing my nose at the software synth/DAW world. Nothing feels and sounds quite like real hardware. I've not looked into getting any Elektron gear, but I'm always willing to give various gear a shot if I can get it at a reasonable price and it is in need of repair.

Yeah, I have the Behringer minimoog clone, model D. It sounds really good. Here is a comparison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYxc8R_Qys0
