Why do people keep trying go back to Gods that clearly were not powerful enough to not be wiped out in the first place?

For me, it's just an interest in the gods of my forbears. I think mythologies are a way people sort out the mysteries of life, and this particular set has traditions that are still a part of our daily life.

And for what you're trying to do, I don't think proclaiming YHWH is better because he wiped out the gods of our ancestors is going to be a good tack.
1. It reminds us that Christianity, a form of Judaism, was foisted upon our ancestors. That it is not our faith unless we choose to accept it.
2. Some (((followers of YHWH))) would wipe out a lot else if they were able, but that doesn't mean I think it's right or good.

I didnt ask about it being right or wrong. I asked why people (mostly on voat) tried so hard to push for dead Gods. A real God wouldnt let themselves be wiped out.

I have studied a LOT of pagan and ancient Gods. I would not deny that one should not discuss them.

If I believe in my government and claim to be a loyal citizen, but believe that the government should have a law where it is legal to jack off into my neighbours toaster, but do it because I believe it should be law, am I still a loyal citizen in the governments eyes? Even if I believe I am?

I'm not even sure what they were like on Voat, but I'm not pushing anything. I'm just interested in it and would like to invite other people who are interested to come participate.

I can't see that any of the gods have been wiped out any more than I can see any of them exist. It's in your head.

As long as you have your neighbor's permission it should be fine.

edit: Although, concerning death of gods. As I understand it, part of norse mythology is that many of the gods die in the final battle. I don't think the belief system is less than just because the gods are not invulnerable. It's just different.
