Look at this cartoon. A smug, intelligent, physically fit negress holds power over an insecure, bumbling, overweight white man. Look at the body posture of the two figures. What is it telling you?
It says that the white man is weak, nervous, and not too bright. It says that the negress is alert, in control, and mildly amused at the white man's confusion. Notice the smirk on her face.
The text of this cartoon gives one message, but the graphic gives the opposite message. The message of the text is that the demands of the liberals in control are irrational; the message of the graphic is that the liberals should hold the power because they are self-contained, aware of what the problems are, and willing to take command.
The funny thing is the author thinks the text shows the liberals are enlightened. They have the right goals, if only reality would cooperate! It's too bad so few people live in their wonderful fantasy world.
