It was a blimp, using a early stealth (radar-evading) shape.

Why are there two different photos in this story which claims to be about one photo?

ones a photo copy, ones a copy of original and the other is a mockup created before the original photo resurfaced

So, here's the same photo (the highest quality photo), "revealed" in 2020.

It's obviously not a copy of the other photo, based on the angle between the plane and the object. The claim is that this is a "colorized copy" of the original....which is obviously a lie.

This looks like a poorly executed hoax story to sell newspapers.https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/secret-ufo-dossier-1990-scottish-22824456

highest quality photo is the mockup, mid quality is rediscovered original

>With the Cold War still going on and the west still doing everything it could to maintain an advantage over the Soviet Union, crazy projects were common for militaries.

If that is real it's not just some crazy project... on second thought, maybe it could be a crazy blimp, no talk of speed or strange maneuvers.

It's not as blurry as most UFO shots. That's a good thing. I spent some time studying it. The shape is asymmetrical, by which I mean it's got bumps. It's not a perfect diamond shape, stuff seems to be sticking out at various points. The craft, if that's what it is, appears to me to have eight triangular facets, four on top and four on the bottom.

So what is up with the wide variety of shape of UFOs? We've got cubic ones, round ones, saucer ones, tic-tac ones, triangular ones, and cigar ones -- now diamond-shaped ones. You would think operations requirements of these things would dictate a similar overall form. However, they don't appear to need aerodynamics, so maybe not.

I notice no landing gear of any kind. It could be folded up inside the craft, or the craft could be designed to land on or in water. It's certainly not going to land on the ground with that point on the underside, unless little legs pop out of slots. Maybe it never needs to land -- maybe it can hover indefinitely?

No windows, either. If it is a drone, there would be no need for windows. Possibly no need for windows even if it has living beings inside it, but we humans like our windows, so why wouldn't aliens? In the past, some other observed UFOs have had windows, by the way, according to the observers.

No visible means of propulsion, which is standard for UFOs. They never show any means of propulsion that we can understand. They are ahead of us by at least one big jump of technology, which might not equate to many years. Such jumps happen quickly when they happen. Look how fast we transitioned from propellers to jets. But so far we can't even conceive how these things can fly the way they do.

This photo is either a fake, or a surprisingly clear shot of a UFO. I don't know which. I've come around to the view that there is something going on with UFOs, that it's not all hysteria and hoaxes.
