That's interesting. I wonder if there's an element of belief involved, too. People have become even more sceptical of the supernatural and things of that nature, and I wonder if that belief "energy" is what ghosts and spirits feed on to remain in a stage of vitality. Without that belief / energy, these entities just can't survive.
