Everyone acts as though it must be true if it is found in a classified file. This is stupid. There is often no way to know if you have been breached so logically they would "salt the data" in a way that would not only throw others off but also expose the leak if the fake info is found in the wild.

Literally been a common place tactic in war and intelligence for centuries.
The amount of people who know that "yah we just give our soldiers a lot of carrots" was used to cover up for the invention of radar who then buy at face value "the CIA is hunting werewolves" is too damn high.
