No only is demonic possession real, it happens all the time to a significant portion of the population. In any given croud you may walk through, the liklihood is that more than one person is possessed by a demon. However, we don't notice most cases of possession -- we mistake them for fits of anger, or changes of mood, or "that time of the month," or whatever. Or we assume that the person has been drinking or taken some kind of drug. It's only when the demon is completely irrational and malicious, particularly in a self-destructive way, that we are forced to notice such possession. If you ever listen to the confessions of criminals that have committed violent, irrational acts, you will hear the same things over and over: "I didn't know what I was doing; I was in a kind of fog; I felt like I was outside my body; I don't remember any of it; it was like somebody else was driving the bus," and so on.

I believe one of my housemates is possessed...he is evil and irrational. The constant dope-smoking surely doesn't help. I pray for him to die suddenly.
