Correct. Reading between the lines: he discovered organ-transplant-compatibly issues and was working to resolve those issues. He was to present a paper on it on the day he died.
The obvious benefit is the hormones. It is unnecessary to transplant monkey balls when we have isolated sex hormones and other hormones that can repair a malfunctioning endocrine system.
He was a pioneer, though. Seemed like he needed to be 35 when he started this work.
