Roald Dahl wrote a short story about a guy that learn't this from a Yogi and used it to fleece casinos. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. It was based on Kuda Bux:

There was a guy who taught this in the 1980's and early 1990's. Name was Lloyd Hopkins. He wrote a book entitled, "Mind Sight and Perception" where he talks about the process.
