I've been here for two weeks and have two more weeks to go. The dorm that I'm in used to be an old nurses quarters. So far myself and three others have witnessed some strangeness.

The doors are controlled by proximity/nfc keys. One night a guy woke up to find another room's key sitting on his sink. Security checked the logs of his room and the key that he found and noone had accessed his room nor had that key been used anywhere. It just showed up out of nowhere.

The doors have a small gap between them and the floor, like most hotel rooms have. When the main hallway light is on, shadows of people walking by can be seen under the door. One night I got up from my bed to go outside to have a smoke and at that same time a slight scurrying/shuffling sound and shadow appeared below my door. As I walked to the door I figured it was one of the other guys coming up to my door to ask me to go out. Figured I'd scare the poop out of them as I opened the door since the shadow was still there but when I opened it, nothing was there. Looked up and down the hall and saw nothing. Didn't hear anyone moving along the old creeky floors, closing a door or going down the nearby steps.

That same night, the guy across the hall said that he saw a white and black cat crossing the hall and entering into a room on one of the very ends of the hall. He thought that that was odd and wondered whose cat it was since pets aren't allowed so he went to check it out. The door to the room that the cat walked into was closed. The supposed cat would have had to have walked through a closed door.

The next night another guy said that he was walking up to our floor (stairs are in the middle of the hall) and came up to our darkened hallway (there's motion activated lights in the halls but only on the very ends of the hall). He said that he saw a dark shadowy figure standing in the hall where motion sensors would pick someone up and thought it was someone in the program and said "Yo, what's up" to it. It turned and moved into a door leading to the laundry room. He thought that was odd and walked down the hall to find the laundry room door closed and went in to find it empty.

Shit's a bit nutty.

I never took it seriously really, honest!

But she did!

Fer reals, though. I swept the house with my shotgun at the ready a good few nights in the wee hours due to unexplained noises which have since stopped.

The graveyard is nice, though, and we make sure to keep troublemaker kids under control, so the inhabitants have perhaps learned to tolerate us.

The graveyard would be a bit trippy to me. At least you're all living as one big happy family...for now..muahaha. How old is your home?

It started life as a tool shed in the 40s, ostensibly for the cemetery itself. Then it got built into an actual house in 1968, and then there was a whole additional win added at some point after that, and that part's unclear because of old-timey code violations not on record that somehow they got away with [not surprising, considering], but they were well done according to our inspector, who gave me some pointers on making it better [which I still need to do... but involves hard work in the stuffy cellar...].

Our first choice was a considerably older Victorian built in the 1800s, but it's neighborhood was [and is] pretty horrible, and the price was just wrong. Too bad, that place was fucking cool, and had a turret on the roof with a commanding view of the entire harbor. Also a much more spacious [and creepy] cellar... and a spare 3 bedroom guest house in the back, also from the 1800s [and quite Danish, as it was all ostensibly built by a Danish sea captain]... but I digress.

Now I wish we'd moved up the hill to a better neighborhood altogether, but we get along well with most of our non crackhead neighbors here, so at least we have that.

Damn, that sounds like a neat house and has a cool backstory to it. I've always been intrigued by old architecture (great, great grandfather was a mason) and old cemeteries. You could have landed somewhere else but you landed where you needed to be.
