I've been here for two weeks and have two more weeks to go. The dorm that I'm in used to be an old nurses quarters. So far myself and three others have witnessed some strangeness.

The doors are controlled by proximity/nfc keys. One night a guy woke up to find another room's key sitting on his sink. Security checked the logs of his room and the key that he found and noone had accessed his room nor had that key been used anywhere. It just showed up out of nowhere.

The doors have a small gap between them and the floor, like most hotel rooms have. When the main hallway light is on, shadows of people walking by can be seen under the door. One night I got up from my bed to go outside to have a smoke and at that same time a slight scurrying/shuffling sound and shadow appeared below my door. As I walked to the door I figured it was one of the other guys coming up to my door to ask me to go out. Figured I'd scare the poop out of them as I opened the door since the shadow was still there but when I opened it, nothing was there. Looked up and down the hall and saw nothing. Didn't hear anyone moving along the old creeky floors, closing a door or going down the nearby steps.

That same night, the guy across the hall said that he saw a white and black cat crossing the hall and entering into a room on one of the very ends of the hall. He thought that that was odd and wondered whose cat it was since pets aren't allowed so he went to check it out. The door to the room that the cat walked into was closed. The supposed cat would have had to have walked through a closed door.

The next night another guy said that he was walking up to our floor (stairs are in the middle of the hall) and came up to our darkened hallway (there's motion activated lights in the halls but only on the very ends of the hall). He said that he saw a dark shadowy figure standing in the hall where motion sensors would pick someone up and thought it was someone in the program and said "Yo, what's up" to it. It turned and moved into a door leading to the laundry room. He thought that was odd and walked down the hall to find the laundry room door closed and went in to find it empty.

Shit's a bit nutty.

We talked about it recently and agree.

There are cooler houses up the way . Maybe we might think about making an offer. They might accept a lowball offer, and our houses could almost be an even trade...

But we really love being able to take peaceful walks in our cemetery, and that would be all gone if we moved. On the other hand, lots of kids have started using the cemetery as a park, with all the parks around us totally closed... which is okay, in that they're good kids and don't make a mess or be horrible or anything... I'm conflicted but tempted.

It does look like a nice place and you'd probably find it to be just as nice and peaceful as the current place after you've settled into it after a year or so. It's a great feeling to be able to make a change but sometimes the change isn't all that it is perceived to be.

If you can stand the burden of being a caretaker then continue to do so.

That's true.

But we don't presently have a kitchen balcony or a train set room!

But we do have a nicer garden and good neighbors, so good point.
