I know a guy that lives about 8 miles out of a city that has pretty good internet. His only options are STILL a WISP (with shit throughput) or Starlink.
This is a area with a few hundred homes on land but.. you know, they are not a "wealthy gated acreage" area... So they don't get shit. It has been the same since the 80's when his parents bought the land.
Its like 8-10 minutes from being in the city yet the internet they have for most of the homes is basically dialup.
Same thing around me. Go 10 minutes out of the city proper and your only options are satellite or the shitty T-Mobile Internet.
Makes looking for houses a pain in the ass.
Unless you have ~40-180k to get the company to run a line to you... That they will then spend the 10k to run it to 100 other houses off of your cost. Its bullshit. This is why some communities have created co-op's for this kind of connectivity.
