SF was an amazing place rich with history. I grew up here in the sticks in Maine, the antithesis of growing up in/near a big city. A fundraiser here usually involved food, a beanhole bean supper, a haddock fry or the likes and at a local church - compared to big city cocktail parties you experienced. I've always been fascinated to hear what life was like for those who grew up in the big cities, especially if they were financially well off, rubbing elbows with the rich and famous. Alcohol was a big thing for the business class back in the 50's and 60's ... OUI laws started to take the thrill out of it by the late 1970s, around here anyway. Feinstein and Pelosi sound like they were quite a pair. Their lives full of lies to cover their boy love and bolster their political careers. They were expert liars by the time I became familiar with them from the news. You are lucky to have escaped them unscathed.
