To be fair, once he began training, he would have been forbidden to even speak about his mother. Attachments were a literal ban hammer offense. So it's not quite as dramatic as OP made out. Still fucked though, yeah. My bigger issue was always why, after 20 years of training together, wouldn't Anakin had even paused for 1 second to listen to a man who was the closest thing to family that he had. Obi Won would have even helped him and Padmae, I always felt.

The EU was full of fantastic material but stupid (((Disney))) had to write their bullshit for "modern audiences."
I do enjoy the EU. Still if you haven't checked out Andor it is worth pirating for sure.
