Why do we even have a star wars sub if you all hate star wars so much? You can't pick and choose what is and what isn't star wars. It's all star wars. Orig, prequel, sequel, and everything in between. If you hate everything that has come out since the prequels, then I'm sorry, you're not a star wars fan anymore. You're just a fan of the original 6 movies.

Now, don't get me wrong, I think the sequel trilogy is a disjointed mess, but it's not the "death of star wars." And there's some good stuff sprinkled in there with the bad. Disney may have botched the sequel trilogy, but the future of star wars is still bright. Just look at the Mandalorian or season 7 of clone wars.

I like Star Wars though, I just hate the last three movies.

Clone Wars is the toppest of tier Star Wars content, and Mandalorian season one is excellent (haven't seen season two).

Clone wars is awesome. And mando season 2 is amazing. You need to watch it. You'll especially like it as a fan of clone wars.

Fuck no!

Force Awakens was a yet another planet killer weapon, starred by a women with zero Jedi training yet bested the top Sith of the time. Fin had his moments as did Poe but very little, they killed Han, and they blew up Coruscant without even discussing it afterwards.

Rise of Skywalker was socially justified nonsense the whole movie.

Last Jedi was a COMPLETE departure from the entire Star Wars universe and generally ridiculous.

After Chapter eight it was finished. Rogue one was the only one decent as for a prequel to New Hope. It sucked that it was over diversified. But good story.

If by sequel trilogy you mean 7-9, no. Not one thing. In fact, it took several tries to even get through a couple of them, pirated in the comfort of my own living room. 100% honest.

Clone wars is awesome.

Rebels was pretty good, my four year old likes it.

And mando season 2 is amazing. You need to watch it. You'll especially like it as a fan of clone wars.

Mando is a mixed bag. Half the episodes were just setting the scene for spin offs. It has some of the worst kike tricks in it, but some of the content is average to good. It’s is not amazing, it’s okay.

I don’t love or hate Star Wars any longer. I did love it as a child, and I have a soft spot for the old nostalgia pieces and even thoroughly enjoy a few of the works. What I hate are the people behind the trash being made today, but that goes for all of media.

What I enjoy are compelling stories, interesting characters, thrilling adventures, and meaningful metaphors. A film or program doesn’t require all of these for me to find it “good,” but it does require at least a couple and it also must not insult my intelligence or preach nonsense propaganda.

Star Wars of 1977 checks the boxes and works as a terrific standalone or sequel bait film. The Empire Strikes back has only one weakness - its reliance on a sequel to finish its story. Return of the Jedi has terrific moments but is overlong and focuses on the wrong things, and it’s the first sign of where the wheels were coming off for George Lucas, turning his art into a completely artificial, contrived, commercial mess.

The Phantom Menace was Lucas’s last attempt where he even remotely cared, although again he tried to focus on demographics and marketing rather than just making a solid, enjoyable film. When the fan backlash hit, he gave up, gave the fans the finger, and moved to green screen city, resulting in two films that might have had interesting premises, but were largely terrible in execution.

The Force Awakens had three major weaknesses - heavy reliance on nostalgia, no solid plan of action for the trilogy as a whole, and simultaneous reliance on a sequel to finish its story. Overall, it had promise, even if it was weak. Clearly the director enjoyed being in the universe, and he wanted to have fun and build sets. Unfortunately, the film lacked any internal logic because it had no through line, the nostalgia felt cheap and wrecked the old characters, and the payoffs were lackluster due to the film apparently being edited by tossing reels into a trash can with a chainsaw and a roll of duct tape. The effort could have been saved with a decent sequel, but that’s where Rian (sucks Kathleen Kennedy’s) Johnson comes in, and the result was an even worse follow up film, with pandering, further destruction of characters, artificial conflict, lack of warmth, and scolding of straights, whites, and males for the act of existing. When the “middle act” of the entire story is already ruined, nothing in the third act can save it. I never saw Rise of the Skywalker, and I’m better off for it.

All that to say, I lived through the nineties. I have developed an immunity to the doses of bits and snippets of ideological trash and propaganda a creator might dribble into a work as long as the rest of the film functions. However, I have low tolerance for stupidity, poorly constructed plots, erratically written characters, and excessive cloying and faux earnestness. These immediately drag me out of the story, and I’ve reached the point where I just switch them off because I have better things I can do with my time, like arguing against faggots on the internet who love Star Wars.

EDIT: I agree with you that there was no plan. That's jj Abrams for you. Have you seen his Ted talk about the "magic box" or whatever? He purposefully didn't have a plan. It's like part of his creative process. It's stupid. Disney hoped they could wing it and it turned into a disjointed mess. To be fair. Lucas winged it a little with the original trilogy too. Vader was never meant to be Luke's father and Leah was never meant to be Luke's sister. But it worked out much better. And I have a huge soft spot for the phantom menace. It came out when I was 9. I loved it. Even jar jar. And I also agree that after the phantom menace, the rest of the prequels just became spectacle, with little substance.

But here's what my argument ultimately boils down to, I think: They're just movies. They hold a lot of nostalgic significance with me, and I still enjoy each movie to varying degrees, but in the end, it's just a fairy tale. Why do people feel so personally attacked by these new films? It's Hollywood shlock, what do they expect? It was made by a bunch of scumbags. You either separate the film from the people behind the camera (writers, directors, producers, studios) and try to enjoy it, or you don't. And if you don't like the film on it's own merits, then you don't like the film. No need to get so angry and vitriolic (not saying you are. Just fans in general).

I dont know man. I like to enjoy things. There's things in the sequels to enjoy. I thought tfa was good. It kind of went off the rails in tlj and tros, but whatever. Now, with favreau and filoni taking on more responsibilities, the future of star wars looks good. One can only be hopefully optimistic.

Does Disney pay you for this shit? Its doesn't matter how good Mandalorian, Clone Wars and Rebels is if episodes 7-9 are considered canon. News flash most people actually enjoy Mandalorian they just hate Disney/Kathleen Kennedys 'Solo' and Episodes 7-9, and if you enjoy them YOU are not a Star Wars fan because they are not star wars, and Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia do not play and are not written like their previous characters.

The rumor going around is that they might erase the whole sequel trilogy using the world between worlds from rebels. You might get your wish. I dont think they should get rid of rey and kylo tho. They could still be really compelling characters if the writing was tweaked little.
