I was essentially going to say the same thing: the amount of time the girl spent learning that must have been crazy. She could have learned to do something worthwhile. I put this in the same category as video game competition.
But we live in a world that appears to have the luxury of time for shit like this. I don't believe we do, yet here we are.
The volume idiotic fanaticism of parents driving children in the direction of pointless diversions at the expense of personal, spiritual, intellectual, and professional growth, even under the guise of “but muh team dynamics” and “muh fizzikul fitness” is insane. I know good, Christian parents, otherwise wonderful and reasonable people, who indulge in this cult of “sport.”
