It makes sense they weren't aware of them. You're expecting former airforce test pilots from the 60s and 50s to possess high level physics knowledge from their time in the air force lol.
No, I expect that they would know about the Van Allen belts because if they miscalculated even a little bit, they would all die.
Unless we are supposed to believe that the dudes who flew out to the MOON were a bunch of frat bros who were just following orders.
The apologists won't let up lol.
It was faked.
It was faked.
I am glad you see that as well.
The apologists won't let up lol.
It was faked.
And Bopper finally admits he faked knowing Gene Kranz and running into him at the grocery store.

they would all die
Prove it.
The radiation of the van allen belts is lethal, according to the "scientists". Look it up.
It's not something you can calculate. In a newtonian universe where you can predict the motion of every atom in the universe sure, but quantum physics throws that out the window. Solar storms are currently incalculable w/ our current tech. If one flared up and the ISS was in it's path it would kill everyone on board, we'd likely have some grid problems b/c of EMP, and we'd be seeing the aurora borealis crazy south near the equator. A strong enough solar flare could essentialy blow our atmosphere off like a birthday cake candle if we found ourself in it's direct path.
After monitoring solar activity for several months, I witnessed more than 5 M-class CME's blasted in Earths exact direction. The 40 starlink sats they came down a couple months ago were due to a earth directed CME in the M-class range or above.
How is the ISS still up there then?
If we cannot calculate the Van Allen belts density/motion, how the fuck did they calculate that exact answer? If they messed it up everyone dies. According to another commenter, Apollo 16 was "delayed" because they were waiting for an "opening". Nonsense if you ask me.
