Honestly I don't know why it matters but Viking Landers already found it in two places on Mars in 1976 and repeated experiments run at that time on Mars and then subsequence examination of the data and the original data sets from the Viking Landers have proved again and again that it did indeed detect life and it was not any of the alternative explanations that were given at the time to suddenly try to shut down the discovery of life being found on Mars in 1976.
