Listen to what they're saying. The ISS costs $200 billion with a B. And the SOB's are willing to let it burn. They are literally willing to burn $200 billion, out of convenience, while I'm happy being frugal with high 5 figures. Government acts like a spoiled wife.

It's getting old and there's no way to bring it back down, even if it were disassembled in orbit. It would cost billions more anyway, if the space shuttle were still in service. This is what happens to old satellites and space stations. Russia did the same with MIR.

I know it's all the rage, letting things burn up in atmo... but why not just give it a push into the far reaches of space instead?

Why not push it towards the sun, instead?

I'm sure they can be talked into it... for a few ten $billion.

You'd need to give it a shove with another craft. Easier to control where it breaks up over Earth, which is where it wants to go.

Does the ISS lack little thrusters?

Emphasis on little. They can make course corrections and will be used to control descent, not enough to escape orbit.

So basically, Elon or Bezos can just go grab it and claim it once they deem it junk, essentially, plucking 200 billion out of the trash.

Sigh. Only two paragraphs in and I'm mad. Space exploration is totally the job of the government 🙄. Recent private ventures trumping their achievements prove this is false. Even though those assholes stole my money under the threat of violence to subsidize the private ventures. Fuck 'em all.

as the government focuses on sending humans back to the moon and, eventually, to Mars.

It will be part of the upcoming fake alien invasion false flag to annihilate the last of our 'freedoms'
