The military is WAY worse than you think. It is really bad. It's going to get a lot worse. He will absolutely NOT be safe... He will be sent out to suppress men like me... On my own land ... Why do you think they want to bring in foreign mercenaries to the US military? It is because they need people who will shoot at guys like me because we won't opress our own people. He is joining the wrong side and we will put him in the ground along with the savages he will be running with.
What's the rush to throw away your son? Take a breath. Count to 10... Look for other opportunities. Find another way. There are enormous numbers of foreigners swarming my nation right now. Most are coming to their doom, they don't know it but it's true. If not then then their kids will be chewed up and destroyed.
OK. Then what are his alternatives? Local militia? Sport? Church? What should he chase?
Im guessing he is in his late teens/early 20s? If I were that age I would dedicate my life to ONE singular thing and I would go at it with all my energy and motivation. I would learn to be a developer in some part of Web-3 blockchain scene. I would do that shit from the time I got up in the morning until I went to bed... 8 days a week. I would learn and fail and win and learn some more. Right now is one of the absolute best times to get into it because it is bottoming HARD so all the opportunity in the world exists as many people are leaving.
It can be done from literally anywhere on earth. NO reason to go enslave yourself as a foreign mercenary for a failing empire that is gearing up to slaughter their own population wholesale... Instead huddle up wherever he is at and get balls-deep into web-3. I have been doing exactly the above for the last 5 years and it has paid off HUGELY. It was absolutely the best move I have ever made. Better than my military time (which was a net-negative overall), vastly better than College... Etc.
I have a world of resources he can dive into on day 1. I have been teaching the stuff off and on both paid and unpaid for 5 years. In a few years he will certainly drop into a crew somewhere that will pay him enough money that he can simply get out of where he is at with MONEY instead of with his life and freedom. It is the best long-term solution. Oh!!! Best of all is that it is all free. Have a computer and an internet connection? You have everything you need. Simple as that.

Its all free to anyone smart who will work hard. I bet he could be well on his way in like... 6 months. In 2 years he should be able to buy a passport from St. Kitts or St. Lucia for $100k and GTFO to wherever the fuck he wants to go.
