I've told this story here before... Church acquaintance family runs a butcher shop in the shitty - family owned and in the same spot for 80 plus years. Times change, neighborhood changes but they're still there. They decided to repurpose an outbuilding about 12 years ago, and serve lunches to underprivileged kids during the summer. All out of the goodness of their hearts. Works fine for the first 5-6 years. Then entitled nogs start coming in droves from other parts of town, break-ins, stole the AC condenser, etc. Corvids happens, shuts down, reassess, spruces up the joint and reopens in the summer of 2022. Irate nog parents start showing up too expecting to be fed, then nog drug addicts, volunteers get threatened, etc. They reopen in 2023, more of the same. 2024, more of same - on steroids - happens, and they decide to shut it down permanently once school starts in the fall. More irate parents show up DEMANDING they stay open. They stop even trying to explain that they are a volunteer entity, and just call the cops. They wound up shutting down in late July I believe. Only one parent contacted them to thank them for their support - a black woman who referred to the rest as a bunch of stupid niggers.
