We had it in rural CT for a bit. I remember a lady selling flowers out of a stand in front of her house unattended. People used to bring her extra vases and leave them. Just a bit further down the road there was a couple selling jam and honey unattended. They had been doing it for nearly a decade. I noticed the stands vanished one day and an article ran in our little loacal paper (2000ish) that they had been stolen from too many times lately.
I'm sure it was just a coincidence that I started seeing a changing demographic at the little library I worked for. How the hell they managed to infiltrate I'll never know but man they were ghetto out in the rural countryside in tiny towns.

Our ancestors from the very recent past would be astounded at how easy criminals have it today. Imagine bringing a man from 1900 who owned a general store, and then explaining to him that you had to lock up certain products like razors because niggers are known to steal them all the fucking time.

You can't rob a place. Robbery requires two or more people and typically is always face to face.
Burglary seems more appropriate, but to burgle requires illegal entry. So unless the supposed crook was previously trespassed from the property, burglary wouldn't apply as the place is apparently open to the general public.
The act of looting this type of store would get the theif a larceny charge.
