I kind of think that's the point. All of the "deep fake" stuff came out right when a bunch of politicians seemed to be getting in trouble for shit they have been doing for decades...
Then "all of a sudden" it was easy to make fakes of shit like that even if you suck at photo editing. I don't believe that was a coincidence.
It has only gotten better and better to the point that some people can't tell if something is faked now and it could have been made by some kid with a internet connection in half a hour. Not even a nation-state trying to create propaganda.
