...said every generation about the generations that came after them.

The cycle shall continue unabated.

It's not about the material in absolute terms. It's about the material in relative terms.

That's because it's not really about the material at all; it's about social rank.

In 2025 if Billy somehow has a levitating hover bike that goes 800 MPH then he's the most popular kid in the school district. Maybe the world.

If he has the same hover bike in 3025 but the cool kids all have interstellar star ships, then Billy is a fucking loser.

That's why Billy doesn't appreciate his hover bike.

By the way, Billy's adult neighbor Tyrone can not afford a star ship but he bought one on credit anyway. It will be repossessed in 18 months but in the mean time he let's his son DaQuanQuan fly it so he can get girls out of his league and turn them into teenage single moms.

They'll learn. They'll become adults. Will learn that being an adult sucks. That nothing you dream as a kid really carries over to adulthood. If they're lucky, they'll find a job that doesn't crush their soul. If not, they'll just wash away with the rest of floatsom.

I followed my dreams, and it's crushing my soul. As a kid, computers always fascinated me. As an adult working as a Linux systems engineer, I kind of hate them now, but I can program on them and shit.
