I put a hair catcher over the drain due to a certain person, and too often finding a clogged shower drain. Certain person removed the hair catcher every time using the shower to avoid hair catching and having to clean their own hair out of the catcher. Clogging continued. WTF moments.

Those things slow the drain to much in a shower.
One place I rented siliconed them in all drains except the toilet.
