The entire plot of "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi" was just an elaborate cover story to hide who the real target of the rebel terrorists was.

The genocide of the entire sapient indigenous species of hyper-intelligent cannibals on the forest moon of Endor by creating an extinction level event by dropping a 300 mile diameter exploding steel sphere on them.

The Empire was all but done at that point. The peace and order they had brought about was essentially destroyed, undermined, or disrupted, but then it's always been so much easier to destroy than to create, hasn't it?

The rebel terrorists were ascendant. They were also aware of a species of unsophisticated but highly intelligent cannibals on Endor who displayed a disturbingly instantaneous grasp of technology, showing the ability to master the operation of sophisticated weapons and machinery almost immediately on contact, with no previous exposure to it or training on it. Blasters, speeders, AT-ST's. All of them. Just pick it up and go. How long do you think it would have taken them to master space flight at that rate? They had to go.

Obviously they would represent a threat that the new rebel terrorist power structure was going to have to deal with sooner or later anyway. Why not just use them as allies, gain their trust, then turn on them, drop an exploding death star on their little rain forest moon, wiping them out, and then just blame the whole thing on the "evil empire"? One of the last phases in any leftist consolidation of political power is to turn on and eliminate their "fellow travelers" and any other useful idiots who they think might become a pain in the ass later. Best to act quickly and finally. Stick it to the other guy before he has a chance to stick it to you.

When the rebels were cheering? It wasn't for the destruction of the second death star. It was to celebrate the removal of the real, existential threat to their new power.

The Ewoks.

The whole plot was just so jewish, I bet they danced.

First, don’t buy the propaganda. Second, the ELE wasn’t about crashing anything into the surface of the moon; it was a slow death by radioactive materials raining down over the years as the remains of the ships and battle station slowly entered orbital decay. The “Death Star” wasn’t even real or operational in capacity we were led to believe.

The second Death Star had a large, stationary superlaser, but not one capable of destroying planets, merely large enough to take out capital ships. You had a lot of “veteran” witnesses that would need to be convinced this was “real” in order to move on to the next phase of government under the so called “New Republic.”

Did you honestly believe that they could generate a second, operational Death Star in three years when it took over twenty to complete the first one?

Incidentally, the first Death Star was, in fact, genuine. The selection of Alderaan as the first official target was one agreed upon by the Alderaanian leadership, all members of Palpatine’s secret death cult, who willingly sacrificed themselves and the majority of their people for a massive blood ritual.

What they didn’t realize was that as part of this (((Jedi/Sith))) occult myth of “balance,” (((Palpatine))) was going to also allow for the destruction of the Death Star to even the scales and produce yet more death. He had gleaned the desired technology (mass concentration of energy) from the research, and had no interest in Tarkin as a rival.
