They’re already doing it in in China.
I mean, they are working on it, but it isn't like it is at the point where stores know who is coming in, or where they know where a person is at all times.
The time will come though.

Meh its easy to fool. For one thing if your face is covered it wont be doing shit and like i said there's patterns you can use to fool it. It's not super human if you can fool a person into not recognizing you you can fool the algorithm. Check out the scanner suit in "A scanner darkly" it's just one suggestion to fooling a camera based surveillance state.
ai can imagine you with different lengths/colors of hair, it can drop clues from your eyes when you are wearing glasses, and it can go off of things like gait.
And you can fool it by doing things other than those cosmetic makeup, sole inserts and all sorts of other things. Not only that you can feed it adversarial patterns that destroy its ability to recognize anything.
It's not magic. It still is just a machine measuring your facial structure and applying kernel filters to it to generate matches. If you disguise facial structures or feed it garbage that generates false hits or creates a situation where its learned kernel filters wont match you can defeat it.
