It's not the most thought out proposal, for sure. And it literally came to me under the shower :). That's why I posted it, to have holes poked into it. Throw it at the wall and see what sticks. I figured things are never that clear cut.
I had just listened to a podcast where they talked about the Leopold and Loeb murder (TDS 724). https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/leopold-and-loebs-criminal-minds-996498/ They mentioned that age of majority used to be 21 in those days. It's 18 today and the want to reduce it to 17 or 16 here in Germany so these people can vote.
I think I'm noticing a trend where people are less and less mature at that age and beyond. People studying until their 30s and such. There should be some kind of incentive for someone to have made a contribution to society before they earn the right to have a say for all the rest of us.
Gotta go, I'm off to work.
Kids that are 16 have no life experience whatsoever and are taught to trust their teachers. They are the closest to the indoctrination so giving them the vote would be like giving the US Teachers unions several million votes to play with. Terrible plan.
I don't give a shit about age of majority or even if women vote (that's been a tragic mistake). They need to make voting a privilidge given to those who participate in society. Millitary service members, land owners, business owners, etc. People with skin in the game.
If anyone can vote then those who do nothing, build nothing, and earn nothing can simply vote to have everything you do, build, an earn.
