Summer camp is just around the corner, a big labor project is planned, back-breaking work for weeks. For some reason, Paul is told to arrive for orientation on June 14th at midnight. Weeks later, Paul arrives as instructed but is left stunned when he sees what awaits. He gazes across a vast outdoor compound next to a beautiful lake, a perfect place for a summer camp. Doing a quick scan of the event, he sees multiple dancefloors, jetskis, drugs, alcohol, free money, there is 5-star food everywhere. The women are all young and beautiful, everyone is having a good time and the entire scene resembles more of an open orgy than anything else. Just as Paul takes everything in, he notices that everyone is paired up boy/girl, some boys with multiple girls. He begins to look around to see if there are any other single girls in crowd, perhaps someone else who's arrived late as he did. That is odd, he thinks, he was perfectly on time but from what he sees now he was clearly late through no fault of his own.
Just then, the music stops, the lights come on and the PA system crackles. A voice thanks everyone for attending the week-long opening ceremony of the camp. Hoping everyone enjoyed their fun as the work officially begins tomorrow morning. They ask that everyone pick up as much trash as they can tonight and help clean up because tomorrow bright and early begins 4 weeks of back-breaking manual labor with no breaks and no pay. Most people are cheering and ecstatic, having spent a week making life-long memories of the best experiences of their life. But not Paul, Paul is looking around in disbelief. Someone asks Paul why the sour face. Paul explains that he missed the party completely and only has work to look forward to. This confuses everyone as no one seems to understand why that matters. Paul asks others how they would feel in a similar situation and they all proclaim that it would make no difference to them. They would work hard regardless. Paul says its easy for them to just say that when they've all gotten have fun. Again they all stress that Paul is just being selfish, that it would make no difference to any of them.
Paul storms off without doing anything. Why is Paul such an asshole?
