They started using it a little while back, not future crimes, but using algorithm to dictate police surveillance. It was presented as a way to take away bias from policing, etc. It was focusing on the obvious spots and was deemed racist.

What I expect would come before future crime policing, would be a network of deep learning to track people and find online crimes to charge them with (like inciting to violence). I wonder if the Jan 6 commission was to be used (or will be use) as an excuse to pass these types of laws. Using Jan 6 would be a way to make these laws palatable to a large segment of the dem population and the media. Basically, setting up an online TFSA.
