The camps not only hosted production lines, but also supplied factories with workers, and when the workers came back the health was gone. There was a big synthetic rubber plant near Auschwitz that was never bombed by the allies. Some say that the rubber story was just a cover up, it was an uranium enrichment plant and the uranium was later used for the Manhattan project.
