There are still plenty of people who think mainstream sources (CNN, NYT, NBC, ABC, CBS, etc.) are the authority on things and would never lie or mislead. I know know some; it's like we're living in two different realities. However, there's a large enough amount of people who distrust mainstream institutions and "experts" now, so they're clamping down on free speech.

Funny how there's no fact checks on "white privilege", the "wage gap", and the actual death rate (less than 1%) of corona. Almost seems like they just pick and choose what to call a conspiracy theory. Amazon is even banning books now. Because that's always worked out well in the past, right? War is Peace. Freedom Is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.
