I have been using this at home for a while now. I like it, it works well. I can tag people/things in images and search them easy. The "AI" model it uses runs entirely locally and is pretty good. I can type in things like "cup" and it will find me every picture with a cup in it.

The project is not technically "free" (they request you buy a license but don't require it) but it is otherwise funded via Futo / Louis Rossmann.

From the post:

>This has been a journey long in the making. So much has changed since the first commit on the project, all the way back in February, 2022. The project and team continue to grow, and today we’re proud to announce v2.0.0, our stable release. Stable signifies that we have now resolved a significant amount of technical debt. It also means we will be prioritizing compatibility and less effort will be required to keep Immich up-to-date. Finally, it means that the warning banner on the website has been removed! Along with this, we’re happy to announce a new version of the https://immich.app/ website.

wtf is with everything needing to be in a container?

This, I agree with. I don't get why everyone is like "just use my container!" Like, why do I need to?
