And I'd confront an untrained kid shooting people with a rifle using my pistol without hesitation. Yes, I'm outgunned- but at the range of "across a classroom", that advantage the rifle has is significantly gimped. It might actually be disadvantaged slightly in tight quarters, as you can bring a pistol up and on target far more quickly than a rifle.

And if it's literally your fucking job to lay down your life for the people of your community at any given time, there's zero excuse. If you're unarmed for some reason, then yeah, confronting him will just add 1 to his bodycount. But when you have 6+ cops all armed with pistols, rifles, vests, etc., and you know where the fucker is.... yeah, no excuses, they allowed those children to be murdered (if this actually even happened).

Well said on everything else, but this is not the case and it's a common misconception. Their job is "law enforcement", they have no obligations to you, they are here to make sure you do what you are told and to fine you, imprison you or kill you if you go against (((the system))).

In a healthy non-jewed society it would absolutely be their job to protect the people of their community at all costs.

Sheriffs are the only legitimate law enforcement and I don't think they have to protect the citizenry from harm.

Given me a cell phone, a free AR-15, some armor, and a few thousand rounds of practice ammo per year and I'll respond to any active shooter at a school within driving distance for fucking free. So the cops were afraid to "confront his AR-15", and the solution is to ban more guns? Not to get personal, but I've made it my quest at my workplace to allow concealed carry. Even a tiny 22 is better than letting some Mk ultra Bot slaughter everyone unchecked.

There are officers that can hit a target decently though I've never seen one in person, I vividly remember a range trip probably 8-9 years ago where I was next to two officers. Their target was placed at about 7 yards, some of their shots hit the man sized target.

Banning assault rifles is the most idiotic thing I've ever read. Any criminal or "villain" if you will, will acquire anything they need legal or illegal. If they can't find a rifle, it's an axe or knife, they want to go out, dynamite or a nail bomb. You van never stop massacres and when you ban guns, crime and tyranny take over.

It's a mixed bag.

Long ago, in the dawn of time, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, I was in BP. Everything you do has a political element attached to it. I wish there was some way to convey the incandescent level of frustration felt by the rank and file right now. There was a time not so long ago, that any BP agents in the area would have formed up, made a quick plan and gone in without waiting around for anyone else. But those days are gone. And we are the worse off for it.

I can guarantee he got called on the carpet by the brass (for interfering with the operation and for saving his kid), but at the same time the guys in the rank and file would approve.

He had to tread a fine line. As a father, his instinct is to save his own, at a minimum. No man stands by and watches when his kids are endangered. But the Man inside him probably wanted to go for the rest, but that would have been a "bridge to far" for the political creatures that run the BP right now.

So he had to settle for half a loaf. It's a shitty situation, but there it is.

I understand and can even sympathize with the individual officers who didn't want to put themselves in harms way.

Now when they actively assaulted, tackled, arrested, and otherwise delayed or idly stood by as other officers impeded the parents trying to save their own kids, that is where I draw the line and say every last one of them should be at the bullet end of a firing line.

Had I been in that situation, I would have taken a safe cover and shot every officer I could at the scene so the other parents could rescue their kids.

That would serve as an effective warning imho.
