I am a chicken novice.

This seems like basic physics, but an unnecessary waste.

If you put the vacuum outside the coop and just run a longer hose, it seems like it would work better and with less effort.

And seeing the amount of stuff he’s sucking up, I’m betting a shovel would do it even faster.

Again, I am a chicken novice. Would somebody please explain to me why you might need to keep your chickens in some sort of space capsule?

All true and the easiest way would be to use a shop vac without any filter. This was just a demonstration of how pressure differentials work in practice, I think. Thinking out of the box is always interesting but not always useful.

Scoop, sweep, then install a drain.

Yes, better than I thought it would be but still very inefficient. It seems like they traded a few extra hours to save a filter and 10 minutes of dumping the vacuum a couple times.
